Apple has issued yet another update for its iTunes software that fixes problems related to upgrading to Apple’s iOS 4 on an iPhone or iPod touch when using encrypted backups. No new functionality appears to have been added to the application.

The CEO of LG Display, the company that makes the display used in Apple’s iPad, has said that his company has been unable to keep up with demand for the large displays used in Apple’s new tablet, which sold over 3 million units last quarter. The executive said that Apple may have to “delay launches” of the device due to component shortages.

Based upon reports from users, it seems that Apple has started to issue automatic refunds to Apple iPhone 4 users that had recently purchased the company’s bumper case. Apple plans to make the bumper case available free to users through the end of September as part of its response to the iPhone 4 Antennagate issue, which I discussed in an editorial piece earlier this week.

As promised, Apple has launched its iPhone 4 free case program. The program requires users to download and install an application on their iPhone 4 in order to complete the ordering process. Apple’s bumper case as well as cases from Belkin, Griffin, Incase, and Speck are available through the promotion, which must be completed within 30 days of purchase and in any event no later than September 30, when the program ends. As we reported earlier, the refund program is also live.

In a statement provided to Reuters, Apple has said that its white iPhone 4 smartphone will not be available until later this year, and that it has proven itself “more challenging to manufacture” than expected. Apple did not provide any firm time line as to when the device would go on sale, nor did it say whether the delay was in any way related to the iPhone 4 Antennagate issue that has been dogging the company recently.
